The minister was speaking at the state-level inauguration of the water bell program, which allows breaks for drinking water in schools in the face of increasing heat, at, Thiruvananthapuram. As the temperature is set to soar to 36 degrees Celsius, it’s imperative to stay hydrated. The implementation of the water bell initiative is aimed at mitigating summer-related health issues. Students are advised to consume ample water as needed. The Education Department’s decision to introduce water bells in schools comes as a response to the scorching summer conditions prevailing in the state. A new break specifically for drinking water, lasting five minutes, will be incorporated alongside the regular intervals. The minister announced that the water bell will chime at 10:30 am and 2 pm. Following the ringing of the water bell, the minister kicked off the event by distributing drinking water to the students.
