Additional directions regarding issuance of Customer Information Sheet (CIS) by insurance companies

IRDAI has issued a Circular dated 30.10.2023 mandating issuance of a concise and updated Customer Information Sheet (CIS) to the policyholders.

It is further clarified that the Compliance of the following shall be ensured:

1. Insurers, intermediaries and agents shall forward the Customer Information Sheet to all policyholders and acknowledgement, physical or digital, shall be duly obtained.
2. Customer Information Sheet shall be made available in local language if the policyholder so desires.
3. The CIS shall have minimum font size 12″ (Arial) or above.
4. All details provided for in the CIS shall be duly filled in.
5. The policy document forwarding letter shall contain a cross reference to the CIS.
