The National Medical Commission (NMC) has held its 11th meeting to elevate medical education. This meeting was held on 18th October, 2023.
The NMC has a mandate to improve medical education in India and to meet at least once every 3 months. The present meeting was organised by the Policy and Coordination Division of the NMC.
The meeting focused on ensuring the availability of competent medical professionals. During the meeting, members deliberated and strategised transformative changes to elevate healthcare standards across the country.
The following were some additional matters taken up during the meeting:
- new training and learning policy for all presidents, members of boards of NMC taken in the agenda.
- delegation of financial powers to subordinate authorities
- draft of Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMER) placed before the commission
- administrative matters; streamlining appeals
