Kerala Govt. issues Draft Notification for Allotment for Symbols to Political Parties

The Government of Kerala under State Election Commission has issued a draft notification on 13th October, 2023, allotting symbols to political parties other than national parties and state parties to contest local bodies in the state.

State Election Commissioner has invited objections regarding which can be submitted in writing to the Commission Secretary till October 30, 2023.

Parties who are not included in the draft notification should apply by October 30, 2023 if they require a new symbol. Political parties registered with the Central Election Commission are also eligible to apply. Additionally, recognized parties of other states or Union Territories ,  political parties having representation in the Kerala Assembly or any local self-governing body can apply as such.

National parties like Aam Aadmi Party (Broom) ,  Bahujan Samaj Party (Elephant) ,  Bharatiya Janata Party (Lotus) ,  Communist Party of India (Marxist) (Hammer, Sickle and Star) ,  Indian National Congress (Hand) and  National People’s Party (Book) Kerala state parties Janata Dal (Secular) (peasant woman with paddy on her head) ,  Kerala Congress (M) (two leaves) ,  Indian Union Muslim League (Ladder) ,  Revolutionary Socialist Party (mower and shovel) and  Communist Party of India (cow and sickle) already have symbols and therefore these parties need not comply with the said notification.
