The Dental Council of India (DCI) has reiterated its request to all dental institutions regarding the admission details of students in MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) and PG Diploma courses for the academic session 2023-24. A circular to this effect was issued on 6th September, 2023.
In a communication dated August 29, 2023, dental institutions were directed to upload student admission details on the DCI website using their assigned login credentials for admissions. This information must be submitted on or before the last date of joining, which is October 10, 2023, at 12:00 midnight.
The DCI emphasizes that any claims of admissions made after 12:00 midnight on October 10, 2023, will be subject to the provisions of Section 10B of the Dentists (Amendment) Act, 1993, and/or Section 16A of the Dentists Act, 1948, as applicable. In such cases, it will be presumed that the college authorities have not admitted the student(s) in MDS/PG Diploma courses for the academic session 2023-24.
Furthermore, it is essential for dental institutions to upload student details gradually, immediately after each round of counseling, but no later than 12:00 midnight on October 10, 2023, to avoid any last-minute technical issues or delays.
The DCI has observed instances where dental colleges uploaded details of students who were not actually admitted to their institution. Such actions hindered the colleges where the students were genuinely admitted from uploading the required information. Dental institutions are hereby sternly warned to upload details only for students who have genuine and bonafide admissions to their college. The responsibility lies with the concerned college to provide accurate and authentic information, and any incorrect information may lead to action or penalties by the DCI.
It is emphasized that only details uploaded on the DCI portal will be forwarded to the State Dental Councils/Tribunals for the addition of MDS/PG Diploma qualifications.
Additionally, it is important to note that student details submitted through any means other than the DCI website, such as email or hard copy, will not be considered. Therefore, institutions are requested not to send student details through alternative channels.
No requests for extensions or excuses related to technical faults will be entertained. Dental institutions are urged to make the necessary arrangements to complete this task on time to avoid potential legal issues and to facilitate the DCI’s timely actions.
For technical support, institutions can contact the DCI at secy-dci@nic.in or call 011-23238542.
All competent authorities are requested to ensure strict compliance with the above stipulations by college authorities to ensure a smooth and timely admission process for the academic session 2023-24.
