The Government of Puducherry has mandated submission of Annual Returns under Factories Act,1948 by Factories through online mode. An Order to this effect was issued on 5th July, 2023 and has come into immediate effect from that same date.
As per the Business Reforms Action Plan 2020, the submission of annual returns in the following categories of factories must be through the online mode only:
- Annual returns under the Factories Act, 1948 and other labour laws, for factories employing more than 40 workers
- Annual returns under the Factories Act, 1948 and other labour laws, for factories employing less than 40 workers
The online portal can be accessed on the website of the labour department of the government of Puducherry.
Therefore, all factories, irrespective of number of workers employed, will be required to submit their annual returns online. The Order aims at promoting ease of business.
The annual return shall contain details of the factory, laborers, health and safety, leave policy and other welfare measures.
