These regulations aim to outline the minimum standards and requirements for the establishment of new medical colleges and the increase of seats in the MBBS course. The objective is to ensure that medical colleges and associated teaching hospitals meet the prescribed criteria in terms of infrastructure, faculty, and equipment.

The regulations will be applicable to medical colleges approved for admitting MBBS students annually. They outline the minimum requirements for accommodation in the college and its associated teaching hospitals, as well as the necessary staff (teaching and technical) and equipment in various college departments and hospitals.

These guidelines are specifically designed for medical colleges that are being established from the academic session of 2024-25 onwards. Applications for establishing new medical colleges will only be accepted for 50, 100, or 150 seats. This measure aims to streamline the establishment process and ensure that new institutions meet the specified standards.
