The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a circular withdrawing its Guidelines under Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. This circular was issued on 23rd June, 2023.
The NMC has emphatically declared that the Guidelines under Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023, stands “WITHDRAWN AND CANCELLED” with immediate effect. At this point, the NMC has not offered any explanations on this withdrawal.
It may be recalled that the NMC had notified the Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 (GMER, 2023) on 2nd June, 2023. These regulations set forth new guidelines for medical institutions and deemed universities to improve the quality of undergraduate medical education and ensure the overall welfare of students.
Subsequently, the Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) also issued New Guidelines for MBBS Course under GMER, 2023 on 12th June, 2023. These guidelines had encompassed various aspects of the MBBS course.
Now, by the present circular, the NMC has withdrawn these guidelines with effect from 23rd June, 2023.
