The Government of Telangana has recently made an important amendment to the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. They issued a notification on June 19, 2023, stating that they are adding the “Food Processing Industry and Food Parks” as entry number “74” in Part-I of the Schedule of Employments to the Act.
The minimum wage provisions of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 will now apply to the employment in the “Food Processing Industry and Food Parks” in Telangana. This amendment ensures that workers in the food processing industry and food parks in Telangana will be entitled to receive minimum wages as mandated by the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
