The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an Office Memorandum further updating its list of Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules. This OM was issued on 31st May, 2023.
It may be recalled that the List I (Manufacturers and Models of Solar Photovoltaic Modules) of ALMM Order, 2019 has been updated on several prior occasions.
However, the Ministry has recently issued major reforms in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of Solar Photovoltaic Modules. These reforms include, the enlistment of only those models of Solar PV Module Manufacturers under ALMM that:
- comply with BIS Standards and
- maintain minimum prescribed module efficiency
The minimum module efficiency is classified under 3 categories based on application and use.
Pertinently, the Ministry has received applications for ALMM enlistment of additional models for manufacturing facilities already enlisted in ALMM and ALMM enlistment of new manufacturing facilities and models thereunder. Hence the Ministry has decided that only those models will be considered for enlistment under ALMM List-I whose module efficiency is greater than or equal to 19%.
Additionally, those Solar Photovoltaic Module Manufacturers whose models’ validity has expire on 9th March, 2023 and have not applied for renewal before that date are delisted from List I.
