ESIC vide notification dated 26.05.2023 has issued clarification regarding ESIC’s Operational Manual for Rare diseases. The notification has directed Parental screening and other preventative measures for High-Cost rare disease cases where more than one child of the family has been diagnosed with rare disease.
Nidan Kendras have been set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under Unique Methods of Management and treatment of Inherited Disorders (UMMID) project for genetic testing and counselling services. These Nidan Kendras will be performing screening, genetic testing and counselling for rare diseases.
