Orissa SPCB reclassifies industrial units

The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha on February 04, 2023, issued an office order to revise the classification of the industrial units as per the criteria and guidelines of the Central Pollution Control Board.

The red category includes –

o Manufacturing of Bio-Diesel having wastewater generation more than 100 KLD

o Storage of Hazardous Waste

The orange category includes –

o Amended “Dry coal processing, mineral processing, industries involving ore sintering, pelletization, grinding and pulverization” to “Dry coal processing, mineral processing, industries involving ore sintering, pelletization, grinding, pulverization & sand screening unit”.

o Amended “Wire drawing and wire netting” to “Wire Drawing, Wire Netting, and Wire Nail”

o Manufacturing of Bio-Diesel having wastewater generation up to 100 KLD

o Rubber goods industry (using fuel other than gas and electricity operated boiler)

o Engineering and fabrication units (with heat treatment/ metal surface finishing operations/painting.

The green category includes –

o Amended “Ready mix cement concrete” to “Ready mix cement concrete / Dry mix Mortar Unit” 

o Storage of Molasses (having storage facility 30 KL and above)

o Storage of Non-Hazardous Waste”

The white category includes –

o Honey Processing Unit 

o Chhatua Production unit (Roasting through electrical oven/gas based)

o Amended “Engineering and fabrication units (dry process without any heat treatment/metal surface finishing operations/painting)” to “Engineering and fabrication units Stainless Steel Tube & Square Manufacturing Unit (dry process without any heat treatment/ metal surface finishing operations/painting)

o Storage of Molasses (having storage facility less than 30 KL)

This order will come into force on February 04, 2023.
