FSSAI notifies the indicative list of HS Codes for which Health Certificates are mandated

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an indicative list of HS Codes. These codes are applicable to the following products:

  1. milk and milk products,
  2. pork and pork products and
  3. fish and fish products

This present notification was issued on 28th December, 2022.

It may be recalled that the FSSAI, vide order dated 3 August, 2022 had mandated that health certificate from competent authority of exporting country shall be submitted for the import of the abovestated products into India.

Additionally, concerned stakeholders are advised to ensure that they verify the applicability of listed HS Codes before applying for Health Certificate. The codes shall be in line with the food products specified under Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 like Sub Regulation 2.1 for “Milk and Milk Products”, Sub Regulation 2.5.2(7) for “Pork and Pork Products and Sub Regulation 2.6 for “Fish and Fish Products”.

The List of CTH under FSSAI for Milk & Milk Products, Pork & Pork Products, and Fish & Fish Products (end-use as ‘Food’) is attached to the document. The Table provides the categories and sub-categories of the products, product description in brief and the risk category allotted to each product.
