The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 23rd September 2022, has published the National Medical Commission 1st (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2022 through which it has notified that the National Exit Test (NExT) shall become operational within four years from the commencement of NMC Act, 2019.
Section 15 of the Act provides for conduct of a common final year undergraduate examination, to be known as the National Exit Test (NExT) which shall be the basis for Registration to practice medicine, admission to PG medical courses and Screening Test for foreign medical graduates to practice modern medicine. The NExT is to be operational within four years from the commencement of NMC Act, 2019 and is to be conducted through such a designated authority and in such a manner as may be specified by regulations.
