Distribution of Electricity License (Additional Requirements of Capital Adequacy, Creditworthiness and Code of Conduct) (Amendment) Rules, 2022

The Central Government vide notification dated 8th September, 2022 has issued the Distribution of Electricity License (Additional Requirements of Capital Adequacy, Creditworthiness and Code of Conduct) (Amendment) Rules, 2022. The amended rules provides that minimum area of supply for which license for distribution of electricity to be granted shall be:

1. The area falling within a Municipal Corporation as defined in article 243Q of the Constitution
2. Three adjoining revenue districts
3. A smaller area as may be notified by the Appropriate Government
