NMC recommendations to revise the syllabus of forensic medicine to reflect the changes in legal position with regard to homosexuality and adultery

The National Medical Commission undergraduate medical education board vide circular dated 18 August, 2022 has published the expert committee recommendations to revise the syllabus of forensic medicine to reflect the changes in legal position with regard to homosexuality and adultery and to comply with the orders of the High Court of Madras dated 31.08.2021 prohibiting all forms of discrimination against LGBTQIA+ community.

The recommendation seeks to replace the forensic medicine competencies regarding unnatural offences with competencies regarding informed consent and history of gender and sexual orientation.
