The Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) on August 17, 2022, has clarified the method of determination of eligible service for the settlement of pension claims related to workers of seasonal factories/establishments. It is stated that if a seasonal factory/establishment was operational only for four months and if the employee has worked for those four months, his contributory service shall be treated as a full year.
In case of new entrant the contributory service shall be treated as eligible service. Total contributory service shall be rounded off to nearest year by treating any service for more than 6 months as a year and ignoring any service for less than 6 months.
