The Ministry of Women and Child Development on 22nd July 2022, has notified a new Guidelines titled “Regulatory Guidelines for Child Participation in the Entertainment Industry or any Commercial Entertainment Activity” incorporating the new laws, policies and best interest of children in consultation with the Committee set up by the Commission for “Revision of Media Guidelines”.
As per the guidelines, the producers shall obtain permission to involve a child in a shooting from a district magistrate where it is to be held and also have to run a disclaimer saying measures were taken to ensure there has been no abuse, neglect or exploitation of children during the entire process of the shooting.
Further, the Producers shall ensure that children are not cast in a role where they are exposed to ridicule, insults, or harsh comments that could affect their emotional health, and neither should they be shown to consume alcohol, smoke or display nudity.
The draft specifies that no child should be allowed to work more than 27 consecutive days. The child shall participate in one shift each day with a break after every three hours and not be made to enter into an agreement for rendering any service as a bonded labourer under the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976.
