The Securities and Exchange Board of India on 30th June 2022, has notified a new format for disclosing shareholding pattern of the public shareholders in order to provide clarity and transparency in the disclosure of shareholding pattern.
As per the amendment, in the disclosure of public shareholding, names of the shareholders holding 1% or more than 1% of shares of the listed entity is to be disclosed and the Names of the shareholders who are persons acting in concert, if available, shall be disclosed separately.
SEBI has modified Table III which deals with Statement showing shareholding pattern of the Public shareholder and Table IV which deals with Statement showing shareholding pattern of the Non Promoter-Non Public shareholder. Under the new format pertaining to shareholding pattern of the public shareholder, SEBI has added a new column for sub-categorisation of shares.
Further all listed entities shall disclose details pertaining to foreign ownership limits in format as prescribed in the circular.
