The State Government of Andhra Pradesh on 17th June 2022, has notified the New Bar Policy 2022 which shall come into force from 1st September 2022. As per the policy, all existing bar licenses shall expire on 30th June 2022 and fresh license shall be obtained for operation of bars in the state.
Key Highlights from the policy:
- The period of license shall be 3 years subject to payment of non-refundable registration charge and license fee with an enhancement of 10% p.a.
- Andhra Pradesh Government by an avowed policy is committed to reducing consumption levels of alcohols in the state with a view to improve the physical quality of life of its people and several pro-active steps have been taken in this direction. Therefore the number of bars shall not exceed 840 bars.
- The non-refundable application fee for filing of applications shall be Rs. 5 lakhs, 7.5 lakhs, 10 lakhs as prescribed.
- The license fee and annual non-refundable registration charge for each of the licenses shall be enhanced @10% every year.
