The State Government of Maharashtra on 12th May 2022, has notified the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2022 to further amend the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. The government has invited objections and suggestions from the public which shall be addressed to the Transport Commissioner, Maharashtra State 5th Floor Fountain Telephone Bhavan-2, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 within 30 days.
The Amendment is brought under rule 78 which deals with Additional conditions in respect of certain permits in which the following new condition has been inserted:
“(4) a goods vehicle covered by national permit issued by any Regional Transport Authority or State Transport Authority other than in the State of Maharashtra shall not pick up or set down goods between two points in the State of Maharashtra”
