The Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India (TRAI) vide notification dated 20th April 2022, has extended the deadline for submission of comments/counter comments on consultation paper regarding Use of Street furniture for small cell and aerial fiber deployment to 11th May 2022 and 25th May 2022respectively.
The comments and counter comments may be sent preferably in electronic form at advbbpa@traLgov.in with a copy to jtadv-bbpa@traLgov.in.
Based on the requests received from stakeholders for extension of time for submission of comments on the ground that paper is very extensive and requires more preparation time, it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments and counter comments up to 11th May, 2022 and 25th May, 2022 respectively.
Street furniture like utility poles, billboards, lamp posts, traffic signals, and public structures like gazebos, bus stops etc. provide utility services to city dwellers but with little or no change, they can also be utilized to mount small cells and aerial fibers for providing telecom services as well.
The Authority, through the present Consultation Paper intends to seek the inputs of stakeholders on issues related to outdoor small cell and aerial fiber deployment using street furniture for the successful rollout of next generation networks in the country.
