FSSAI revises Hypoallergenic infant milk substitutes’ under Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) vide circular dated February 25, 2022 has issued Clarification regarding definition and scope of term ‘Hypoallergenic infant milk substitutes’ mentioned in Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020. Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020 shall cover Hypoallergenic infant milk substitute products based on extensively hydrolysed whey protein or casein or free amino acids.

The revised definition shall come into effect from April 1, 2022.
