The Delhi department of Environment and Forests vide draft notification dated 8th February, 2022 seeks to direct Transport Department, Government of NCT of Delhi to ensure that all the aggregators and delivery service providers (e.g., food delivery, e-commerce logistics providers, couriers) adopt electric vehicles.
Objections or suggestions to this draft Notification may be sent through e-mail within 60 days. Within 31st March, 2023, 50% of Two wheelers and 25% of Four wheelers in delivery service shall be electric vehicles. Any violation of the above directions shall be punishable under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 which includes
imprisonment upto five years and / or with fine which may extend to Rs. One Lakh or with both.
