Government of Andhra Pradesh amends the Andhra Pradesh Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1976.

The State Government of Andhra Pradesh vide its notification dated 5th November 2021 has amended the Andhra Pradesh Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1976 by incorporating a new term Annual Compliance Statement.

Through this amendment, the term Annual Compliance Statement”, “Environment Quality Assessment Auditor” and “Environment Statement” has been defined.

Every person or occupier carrying on any industry, factory, mine, operation or process and all other activities which require consent under the Act , shall submit the annual compliance statement to the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board in the prescribed format every year on or before 30th September along with the environmental statement.

Once the statement is submitted, the person or occupier shall publish the statement in their website, as well as on the website of the Andhra Pradesh pollution control board with a provision to obtain comments or remark from any Indian resident for a minimum period of 15 days.

Any person or occupier who fails to submit the statement shall be liable to pay a late fee as specified by the government of Andhra Pradesh.

Further, every person or occupier carrying on any industry, factory, mine, operation or process and all other activities which require consent under the Water (Prevention and control of pollution) Act, 1974 shall ensure adequate treatment of waste and ensure scientific disposal of trade effluent, hazardous and other waste through authorized agencies, as notified by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board to enable continuous waste disposal monitoring.
