The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide circular dated 22 October, 2021 has allowed addition of vitamins and minerals up to one RDA to standardized food products listed under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2021. It is clarified that such addition does not qualify standardized food as proprietary food.
FBOs are allowed to use existing pre-printed packaging materials under proprietary food category for standardized food products with vitamin and mineral addition till 31 December, 2022.
