Government of Goa on 16th September 2021 has published a scheme for establishing Research/Academic Chairs at various Educational Institutions 2021. The main objectives for establishing Research/ /Academic Chair in various Educational Institutions is to strengthen the role of various Educational Institutions/university/ /academics in public policy making and to design and develop innovative products, processes and technologies.
The scheme envisages establishment of Research/ /Academic Chairs in various other illustrated fields such as History, Science, Art, Political Economy, Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Policies, Strategic Issues, Ecology and Environment, Social, Economic and Cultural Development and other disciplines in the name of great luminaries in near future as per the recommendations of the Government.
Maximum amount of Rs. 50 Lakhs in the form of funds/Grant-in-aid shall be sanctioned annually for each Research/Academic Chair (for a Researcher/Academician from India) on the recommendation and approval of the Government and a Maximum amount of Rs. 75 lakhs in the form of funds/Grant-in-aid shall be sanctioned annually for each Research/Academic Chair (for a Researcher/Academician from abroad) on the recommendation and approval of the Government.
The activities conducted under each of the respective Research/Academic Chairs or by Visiting Research Professor/Professors shall be evaluated by the concerned Educational Insitution and a detailed six monthly report in this regard shall be submitted to the Directorate of Higher Education.
