The Government of Maharashtra through gazette notification dated 21 August, 2021 has issued the Maharashtra Code on Social Security Rules, 2021. The rules provides the constitution, duties, procedure for functioning and role of members of Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Maharashtra Unorganized Workers Social Security Board.
The Rules also provides the procedure for providing maternity benefit and gratuity and collecting cess in respect of building and other construction workers. It also provide remedy for denial of gratuity and maternity benefit. Gratuity shall now be paid in demand draft or directly deposited to bank account.
