Government of Goa grants relaxation over sale of liquor.

The Government of Goa on 28th July 2021 has granted permission for additional time beyond 11.00 p.m. for the sale of liquor in Coastal Village Panchayats coming under Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas, areas under the jurisdiction of Municipal Councils, Casinos, and the hotels registered with the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa.

The Government in its earlier notification dated 26th December 2014 has constituted a committee to grant permission for retail sale of liquor, for the purpose of consumption beyond 11:00 p.m. in all establishments including starred hotel categories and shall consider certain aspects before granting permission.

Further, in order to regulate the sale of liquor in rural and hinterland areas, such applications shall be referred to the Government by Excise Department, for decision.
