The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India through circular dated 27th July, 2021 has re-operationalized the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020. The amendment was introduced to align FSSAI requirement with respect to animal food with specifications of BIS and DAHD.
FSSAI is in the process of considering the public comments on the draft regulations and finalizing the same. Meanwhile, FSSAI has re-operationalized the amendment for addressing the safety issue identified in the recent quality and safety survey of commodities like milk.
