The Government of Goa vide its notification dated 15th July 2021 has implemented the Assistance for sugarcane planting material” scheme which shall come into force with effect from year 2021-22 and shall remain in force till it is withdrawn.
The main object of this scheme is to create availability of quality seed material locally in Goa to replace old and low yielding sugarcane varieties for improvement of productivity and to enhance the productivity of sugarcane.
All the farmers who are cultivating sugarcane on a minimum area of 0.1 Ha and a maximum 2.0 Ha in the State of Goa shall be considered under this scheme and they shall possess a valid Krishi Card issued by the Directorate of Agriculture.
Assistance @ 50% of the cost of seedlings limited to Rs. 22,500/- per Ha. (18,000 seedlings) shall be provided to farmers for purchase of sugarcane seedlings for planting of sugarcane and Assistance @ 50% of the cost of seed setts limited to Rs. 15,000/- per Ha. (30,000 two budded setts) shall be provided to farmers for purchase of locally available sugarcane seed setts for planting sugarcane.
