The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently addressed concerns and queries raised by medical colleges and institutions regarding the installation and monitoring of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
The advisory highlights the following points:
- Storage Capacity: NMC will not store any camera feed. Therefore, all medical colleges are required to have a Network Video Recorder (NVR) with a storage capacity of at least thirty (30) days.
- Access and Sharing: Medical colleges must share login credentials of the NVR with NMC on support.cctv@nmc.org.in. NMC must be granted access to playback any recording of the last 30 days, and downloading the same is imperative.
- Internet Connectivity: Colleges must ensure a dedicated MPLS/ILL connection with a speed of at least 100 MBPS, based on service availability, performance, and reliability.
- Camera Specifications: Colleges are advised to purchase cameras following their procurement rules, with a directive to install at least 2k cameras at all locations except lecture halls, where 4K cameras are mandatory.
- IP Pool Configuration: Medical colleges need to configure all cameras with their IP pool, as NMC will not provide any IP pool henceforth.
- Additional Cameras: Colleges have the flexibility to install additional cameras to ensure proper monitoring of their functioning.
- Network Infrastructure: Colleges can purchase routers/switches based on recommendations from their internet service provider.
- Multiple NVRs: If colleges have multiple NVRs, login credentials for all such devices must be shared with NMC.
- Maintenance Responsibility: NMC will not be responsible for maintenance-related issues of CCTV, routers, switches, or any other associated infrastructure.
- Camera Nomenclature: It is advised that the nomenclature of cameras should clearly indicate their location.
