The Central Motor Vehicle (Draft) Amendment rules, 2021.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vide its notification dated 17th May 2021 has published the Central Motor Vehicles (Draft Amendment) Rules, 2021 and has invited Objections and suggestions from the public which shall be addressed to the Joint Secretary (MVL, Transport & Toll), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi-110 001 or on the email: comments-morth@gov.in before 30 days.

The Amendment is brought under rule 95 which deals with the size and ply rating of tyres in which the tyre designs falling under class C1, C2 and C3, as defined in AIS 142:2019, and as applicable, shall meet the requirements of Rolling resistance, Wet Grip and Rolling Sound Emissions, as specified in Stage 2 of AIS 142:2019, as amended from time to time.

The New designs of tyres to be fitted on motor vehicles and falling under class C1, C2 and C3 as applicable as per AIS: 142 shall be implemented from 1st October 2021 and those Existing designs of tyres being fitted on motor vehicles tyres falling under class C1, C2 and C3 as applicable as per AIS:142 shall be implemented from 1st October 2022.
