The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on 20th April 2021 has notified the functioning of FSSAI notified testing laboratories (including National Food Laboratories) and Import clearance of food items at all notified food entry points as essential services in a view of preventive measures to contain the spread of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19).
These offices are fully operational for scrutiny of applications, visual inspection and sampling for import clearance to ensure expeditious processing of applications and timely issuance of NOC.
Further FSSAI will continue to assist food importers as well as ensure regular supervision and testing of food items and will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of food products.
