The Ministry of Finance on 20th April 2021 has exempted Remdesivir Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, Beta Cyclodextrin used in the manufacture of Remdesivir and Injection Remdesivir from the whole of the duty of customs leviable on their import into India.
Earlier this month, the Centre banned export of the injection and its APIs till the situation improves and now based on the public interest and to ensure affordable medical care for COVID-19 patients, import of Remdesivir API, injections and specific inputs have been made import duty free till October 31.
