The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers 15th April 2021 has published the Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2021 which shall come into force from 12th October 2021.
The Linear alkyl benzene is a basic raw material for the production of most widely used detergents, which would be required to adhere to Indian Standard (IS) 12795:2020 and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Products imported into or manufactured in India containing them will require certification to prove conformity and companies will need to display the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark on all packaging.
