The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways vide its notification dated 8th April 2021 has issued Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2021 and has invited Objections or suggestions from the public if any, which shall be addressed to the Joint Secretary (MVL), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street, New Delhi-110 001, Email: comments-morth@gov.in. Within a period of 30 days.
Through this amendment, a new rule 51A has been inserted which notifies that in case of non-transport vehicles, the motor vehicle tax shall be calculated electronically through the portal on the basis of invoice price excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST).
