Draft Electricity (Rights of consumers) (Amendment) Rules, 2021.

The Ministry of Power on 9th April 2021 has notified the Draft Electricity Rights of Consumers (Amendment) Rules, 2021to further amend the Electricity (Rights of consumers) Rules, 2020 and the Ministry has invited suggestion on the Draft rules which shall be addressed to the ministry within 21 days.

The Amendment brings in new definition to the term Gross-Metering, Net-metering and Net Billing and a new rule 11(4) has been inserted which specifies the arrangements of net- metering in which the arrangements for net metering/ gross metering/ net billing or net feed shall be as specified by the State Commission by regulation from time to time. 

Provided that wherever the regulations do not provide for net metering/ gross metering or net feed in, the commission may allow net metering to the prosumer for loads up to 500 kw or up to the sanctioned load, whichever is lower and net-billing or net feed in for other loads.
