Ministry of Labour extends the public utility service status of industries engaged in production or distribution of fuel gases.

The Ministry of Labour And Employment vide its notification dated 19th March 2021 has declared that the services of the industry engaged in the processing or production or distribution of fuel gases (coal gas, natural gas and the like), which is covered under item 29 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 to be a public utility service for a further period of six months from the date of this notification.

The Ministry has lastly declared the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from 27th May 2020. However, due to the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry, it is extended for a further period of six months.
