The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has issued the Annual Report 2020-21. The review of the Acts implemented by the Ministry of EF&CC is being undertaken in order to assess and identify gaps and redundancies in light of modern-day environmental challenges and to suggest mechanism for better monitoring, compliance and enforcement of these Acts. The exercise is aimed at improving the ‘ease of doing business’ and at the same time ensure ‘ease of living’ for the citizens of the country, with emphasis on moving away from criminal proceedings for civil offences by imposing higher and stringent penalties.
