The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through circular dated the 8th March, 2021 has issued the draft Central Motor Vehicles (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2021. The amendment provides following directions:
- The compatibility of vehicle to level of ethanol blend of E20 or E85 or E95 or E100 shall be defined by the vehicle manufacturer and the same shall be displayed on vehicle by putting a clearly visible sticker.
- The CNG/Bio-CNG/HCNG vehicles shall meet all the safety requirements as per AIS 24 and AIS 28 (Revision 1), as applicable.
- Specification for commercial ethanol fuel (E20) shall be as per IS 17021: 2018.
- Specification for commercial Hydrogen Enriched Compressed Natural Gas (HCNG) shall be as per IS 17314: 2019.
The objections and suggestions from all persons shall be send to official Mail Id of the department before the expiry of the period of thirty days.
