Documents required for registering under motor vehicle act shall be done electronically.

The State Government of Bihar vide its gazette notification dated 4th March 2021 has inserted a new sub-rule 58(a) after rule 58 of  Bihar Motor Vehicle Rule, 1992 and this provision shall come into effect from 5th April 2021.

The new sub-rule specifies the documents required for registration which has to be done electronically and after the sale of Vehicles all the documents related to registration shall have to be uploaded by the dealer on Vahan 4.0 software after signing it through ‘digital sign certificate (DSC).

Further, it will not be compulsory to submit uploaded original documents to the registering authority, but hard and soft copy of the same shall be kept by the dealer in their custody and shall be produced before the registering authority compulsorily when so ever asked to do so.

Approval/Rejection of the registration shall be made by the registering authority after receiving the digitally signed documents and the confirmation of the payment of road tax/fees etc. If any dealer closes his business permanently in any circumstances, he shall have to submit all original documents, related to registration, to the concerned District Transport Office compulsorily.
