the Director General of Foreign Trade through notification dated 12.02.2021 has amended the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-2020 to revise the provisions governing Importer-Exporter Code. Application for issuance of e-IEC can now be made directly on DGFT web-portal. The updation in IEC is also made completely online.
The details of IEC shall be updated electronically every year during April-June period. Upon failure to update the same, IEC shall be deactivated. IEC can also be flagged for scrutiny.
