The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 8th February 2021 has clarified that the requirement of Non GM cum GM free certificate is applicable to consignments which are despatched from exporting country on or after 1st March 2021.
Further, the tolerance limit for the adventitious presence of GMOs at 1% is permissible in imported food crop consignments as listed in its earlier notification dated 21st August 2020.
Previously, the GST rate was set at “half per cent” (0.5%). The recent amendment changes this to “0.25 per cent” (a quarter percent).
