The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation vide its notification dated 28th December 2020 has regulated blood glucose monitors, blood pressure monitors, nebulizers, and thermometers as a drug for quality control and price monitoring from 1st January 2020.
Further, the importers and manufacturers were directed to take import/manufacturing license from central licensing authority or state licensing authority with effect from 1st January 2020. However several representations were received, requesting to extend the time frame for another 3 to 6 months.
Therefore it has now been decided that in case of an existing importer/manufacturer who is already importing/manufacturing any of the above devices and has submitted an application for a license shall be deemed to be valid and the importer/manufacturer can continue to import/manufacture the said device for up to 6 months from the issue of this order or till the time, the central licensing takes a decision on the said application.
