The Ministry of Labour and Employment vide notification dated 1st December 2020 has declared that the services of the industries engaged in defence establishment which is covered under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to be a public utility service.
The Central Government has lastly declared the said industries to be public utility services for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from 24th June 2020. However, the Ministry has now further extended the period for another six months with effect from 24th December 2020, in the public interest.
