The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 9th October 2020 has extended the last date for conducting audit of meat/sweet shops to 31st March 2020 beyond which no further extension would be considered.
The Audit would be conducted with the help of external audit agencies as well as their own designated officers (DOs) and food safety officers (FSOs) and Some of the aspects of the checklist include keeping poultry and mutton shops away from contaminated areas, the place must be well-lit, adequate space for slaughter, dressing of poultry and the chopping block must be of food grade synthetic material among others and for sweet shops the raw materials and food colours and also their storage condition would be inspected.
