The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide notfication dated 16th September, 2020 has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Seventh Amendment Regulations, 2020. In Appendix A, under the heading “ USE OF FOOD ADDITIVES IN FOOD PRODUCTS”, In Table 2 relating to Fats and oils and fat emulsions, for the Food Category Name “Vegetable oils and fats”, “Vegetable oils, fats and bakery shortenings” shall be substituted. The standards of food additives applicable to Vegetable oils and fats shall be applicable to bakery shortenings as well.
