MoHFW issues post-COVID management protocol.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 13th September 2020 has issued ‘post COVID-19 management protocol which provides an integrated holistic approach for managing patients who have recovered enough from COVID for care at home.

The government has directed people to continue to wear mask and maintain respiratory hygiene, and physical distancing, etc.

Further, it has advised people to drink adequate amounts of water, moderate exercises/yoga/ pranayam, avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol, and take regular medications (allopathic/ AYUSH) as it is advised by the doctor and the individuals can keep a tap of their health by continuously checking temperature, blood sugar, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry.

The protocol to be followed by a health care facility includes that the first follow-up visit should be within 7 days after discharge and patients who had undergone home isolation if they complain of persisting symptoms, will visit the nearest health facility.
