The Government of Karnataka has notified the Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) Amendment Rules, 2020. The notification was issued on 26th August 2020 and the said Rules shall come into force from that same date. The Amendment Rules bring forth changes to the Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) Rules, 1967
The Amendment Rules stipulate for the following changes:
The Deputy Commissioner of Excise is now empowered to shift the location of certain specified retail shops. These specified retail shops refer to retail shops issued to the Government Companies. The shifting of these shops may be undertaken as follows:
- The retail shops may be shifted from the limits of one Grama Panchayat to the limits of another Grama Panchayat within the district. However, this applies only to the 463 retail shops issued to Mysore Sales International Limited (MSIL) (A Government of Karnataka Undertaking) by the order dated 3rd July 2009.
- The retail shops may be shifted from the limits of one Grama Panchayat to the limits of another Grama Panchayat within the same Legislative Assembly constituency. This, on the other hand, will apply only to the 900 retail shops issued to MSIL (A Government of Karnataka Undertaking) by the order dated 23rd September 2016.
